(Gingerland, Nevis) - A child drowned Wednesday night in a swimming pool at the residence of his parents, according to a spokesman for the Royal St. Kitts-Nevis Police.
The victim, a 16-month-old boy, was the child of Deslyn Walters and Clive Evelyn of Hanley’s Road, Inspector Cromwell Henry said.
The 16-month-old and a 5-year-old were playing inside about 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 3 when the older child apparently opened a door and both children went outside. When the mother realized there was no noise being made by the children, she went outside and discovered the younger boy in the pool.
He was taken to Alexandra Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The investigation into the incident is continuing.
