ARRESTS

Melissa Hanley of Upper Fiennes Avenue was on Tuesday 9th September 2008 arrested and charged with the offence of wounding, an offence that occurred on 6th September 2008.

Nigel Mills alias ‘Bashment’ of Saddlers Village was arrested and charged on Tuesday September 9th 2008 with the offence of robbery. The offence was committed on 30th August 2008.

Claude Belle of St. Peters was on Wednesday September 10th 2008 arrested and charged with the offence of obtaining money by fraud. Committed on March 31st 2008.

Tyrone Fyfiled of Ponds Extension was on Saturday September 6th 2008 arrested and charged with the offences of possession of cannabis and possession of cannabis with intent to supply.

Shawn Forbes of Challengers Village was arrested and charged on Saturday 6th September 2008 with the offences of battery on police and resisting arrest.

Bernard Browne Jr. of Cole Hill, Gingerland, Nevis, was on Saturday September 6th 2008 arrested and charged with two counts of carrying abroad an offensive weapon.

FIREARM RECOVERED

While conducting routine patrol in the Cole Hill area on Tuesday September 9th 2008, police stopped and searched 25 year old Adrian Skeete of Taylors Pasture, Nevis, for illegal drugs, arms and ammunition. The searched revealed that Skeete was carrying one .38 pistol and five rounds of .38 ammunition. Skeete along with the firearm and ammunition were taken into custody, he was subsequently charged with the offences of possession of firearm and possession of ammunition.

Adrian Skeete was taken before the District ‘C’ Magistrate Court on Wednesday 10th September 2008 to answer both charges, and was convicted and sentenced to five years in prison for possession of the firearm and five years for possession of the ammunition. Both sentences are to run consecutively.

COURT CONVICTIONS

Chino Evans of Sandy Point appeared before the District ‘B’ Magistrate Court on Tuesday 9th September 2008 and was convicted for wounding Edward Phillip of St. Pauls Village on 1st April 2008 and sentenced to one month in prison.

Leon Douglas of Sandy Point also appeared before the said court and was convicted and fined $700.00 for driving without due care and attention. The fine must be paid within two months or Douglas will serve one month in prison.

Delisa Smithen of Bridgeman, Browne Hill, Nevis, appeared before the District ‘C’ Magistrate Court on Tuesday 9th September 2008 and was convicted and fined $3,000.00 In three months or three months in prison, for the offence of possession of cannabis, an offence that was committed on 27th August 2008, when Police executed a search warrant on her premises and discovered the illegal drug.

Gary Smithen of Browne Hill also appeared before the court and he too was convicted for the offence of possession of cannabis and was ordered to pay $500.00 in one month or serve one month in prison. The offence was committed on 27th August 2008 at Browne Hill.

Leroy Sweeney of Stoney Grove, Nevis, also appeared before the court and was convicted and severely cautioned for carrying a small portion of cannabis on 2nd July 2008.

Chase Hamilton of Hanley’s Road, Gingerland, Nevis, was convicted and fined $1,000.00 for the offence of wounding, an offence that was committed on 3rd September 2008. The fine must be paid within three months or Hamilton will serve six months in prison.

Tishari Hull of Browne Hill Pasture, Nevis, also appeared before the court and was convicted for obtaining credit by false pretense and ordered to pay $2,000.00 compensation, to Jamilla Wallace of Browne Pasture, in three months or serve six months in prison. Between April 13th and June 17th 2008, Hull used the credit card on Wallace without her consent to top up her mobile phone. A report was made to the Police and an investigation followed which resulted in Hull’s conviction for the offence.

Devon Percival of Buckley’s Estate appeared before the District ‘A’ Magistrate Court on Monday September 8th 2008 to answer charges of assault, insulting and indecent language. He was convicted and fined $1,000.00 payable in three months or serve one month in prison and $250.00 payable in three months or serve one month in prison as well as a further $250.00 payable in three months or serve one month in prison for the respective offences that were committed on 19th October 2007 against Charles Clarke of Molyneaux.

Jareth Julian of Carifesta Village also appeared before the said court and was convicted for making use of threatening and indecent language to Muriel Davis of Monkey Hill on 11th June 2008 and was ordered to pay $500.00 in two weeks or serve two weeks in prison.

Maurice Fraites-Kelly of Stapleton Village was convicted for making use of indecent language severely warned by the court.

Vincent Dyer of Westbourne Ghaut appeared before the court for wounding Sylvester Herbert of Fiennes Avenue on his head on 31st January 2008 and was convicted and fined $1,000.00 to be paid in three months or serve one month in prison.

Cliffroy Maynard of St. Pauls Village appeared before the District ‘B’ Magistrate Court on Friday September 5th 2008 to answer the charge of driving without due care and attention. He was convicted and fined $800.00 in three months or serve one month in prison. The offence was committed on 16th June 2008.

ARRESTS

Desmond Hazel of Lime Kiln Housing Project was on Wednesday 10th September 2008 arrested and charged with the offence of threatening language. The offence was committed on 9th September 2008.

David Henry alias ‘Jahbal’ of Hermitage, Cayon, was arrested and charged on Wednesday 10th September 2008 with the offences of possession of cannabis and for threatening language.

Juvanie Pemberton of Pump Road, Nevis, was arrested and charged on Wednesday 10th September 2008 with the offences of possession of cannabis and for carrying abroad an offensive weapon.

OPERATIONS

The District B Crime Response Unit conducted search operations in the Sandy Point area on Wednesday 10th September 2008 for illegal drugs, arms, ammunition and for items used in the commission crimes. Three marijuana plants approximately four feet high were found growing on a plot of land in the Soho area. Further searches also revealed four M16 shooting targets and 37 zip lock bags containing cannabis on a vacant piece of land in Mount Idle. The items were taken into custody but one was arrested for the find.

COURT CONVICTIONS

Ramona Hendrickson of Bath Village, Nevis, appeared before the District ‘C’ Magistrate Court on Wednesday 10th September 2008 and was convicted for having cannabis in his possession on 16th May 2008 at Wades Bay, Nevis. He was ordered to pay $6,000.00 in three months or serve six months in prison.

Jevon Pemberton of Pump Road, Nevis, also appeared before the said court and was convicted for carrying abroad an offensive weapon to wit a knife and was fined $500.00, payable in two months or serve one month in prison. Pemberton was also convicted for having cannabis in his possession and ordered to pay $800.00 in three months or serve one month in prison. The offences were committed on 10th September 2008 at Stoney Grove.
