ARRESTS

Antonio Hutton alias ‘Dollar’ of Cotton Ground, Nevis, was on Thursday 11th September 2008 arrested and charged with the offence of larceny. The offence was committed on 23rd August 2008.

A 16 year old juvenile from Fort Tyson Rise, Frigate Bay, was arrested and charged on Friday 12th September 2008 with the offence of carrying abroad an offensive weapon.

Cyril Brookes of La Guerite was arrested and charged on Saturday 13th September 2008 with the offence of possession of cannabis.

Michael Douglas of St. Pauls Village was on Saturday 13th September 2008 arrested and charged with the offence of larceny, an offence that was committed on 9th September 2008.

OPERATIONS CONDUCTED

Police conducted routine stop and search operations on Friday 12th September 2008 at the entertainment spot known as ‘The Strip’ at Frigate Bay and a total of 65 persons and several vehicles were stopped and searched for illegal drugs, arms and ammunition and large quantities of cannabis were found on several individuals. The drugs were confiscated the individuals informed that they will be prosecuted. Additionally, a total of 14 tickets were issued for various traffic violations.

COURT CONVICTIONS

Ephraim Lalin Henderson of The Alley, Sandy Point, appeared before the District ‘B’ Magistrate Court on Friday 12th September 2008 and was convicted and fined $1,000.00 for driving carelessly. The fine must be paid within three months or Henderson will serve two months in prison. The offence was committed on 13th February 2008.

Kerick Lewis and a 16 year old juvenile both of The Alley, Sandy Point, appeared before the court and were convicted for stealing from Shanille Powell and Carmella Daniel from Camp Abraham at the Sandy Point Pre-School on 7th August 2008. They were placed on a bond for six months. In addition, both young men were ordered to observe a curfew from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am for three months as well to remain away from each other for six months. Both young men were also ordered to pay a total of $879.00 each.

Cortney Bollard of Boyd’s Village also appeared before the court and was convicted for the offence of careless driving and fined $800.00 to be paid in four months or serve one month in prison. The offence was committed on 16th May 2008.

Elston Phillip of Tree Top Housing, Sandy Point, who was arrested and charged for stealing two cheques from Aaron Rogers of The Alley, Sandy Point, was convicted and sentenced to eight months in prison.

Melissa Merritt and Wendy Samuel both of Old Road, also appeared before the said court and was convicted for beating Kishma Berkley of Old Road and were severely cautioned. The offence was committed on 21st April 2008.

Millard Maynard and his son Kurtis Browne both of Molyneaux were convicted for beating Eddy Thompson of Tabernacle on 28th June 2008 at Black Rocks and fined $1,000.00 each, payable in three months or serve one month in prison.

INVESTIGATION

On Sunday 14th September 2008 at about 1:25 am Police responded to a report of gun shots being heard at Saddler Village. On arrival investigations were conducted and three bullet holes were found in two windows on the premises of Keneva Richardson. The scene was processed by crime scene officers and several pieces of evidence were recovered. One white sheet containing a black mask, two long black pants, two black shirts and two black hoodies were also found in an abandoned vehicle close to the premises and were taken into custody. One suspect was arrested, and is assisting the investigations.
