| NEVIS DRAG STRIP DEDICATED

(New River, Nevis) Government officials were
out in force to dedicate the new Nevis drag strip
on Tuesday afternoon.
The master of ceremonies for the event was NIA legal
counsel Patrice Nisbett and was attended by a panel
several ministers and dignitaries including: Project
Manager Desmond Lewis of Surry Aggregate and Paving;
Nevis Drag Racing Association President Vaughn Anslyn;
neurosurgeon and on-call doctor for most motorsports
in Jamaica, Dr. Jeffery Liburd; Minister Robelto Hector;
Deputy Premier Hensley Daniel and Premier Joseph Parry.
The speeches by government ministers carried a common
theme of caring about the young people of Nevis and
the drag strip being an outlet for the youth to express
themselves.
Another common message was the blaming the previous
administration for being naysayers about
the drag strip and that the Concerned Citizens Movement
had left the land idle, wasting the resource and just
letting the stones wash into the ocean.
The political posturing was soon forgotten when the
Tempo production crew and CEO Frederick Morton Jr.
arrived on the scene, claimed the microphone and started
delivering their message Badness Outta Style.
The gates open Friday, Sept. 19 at 8 a.m. for the
vendors to begin setting up. The first race is due
to come off at noon with races running all afternoon
until 5 or 6 p.m.
