ARRESTS
Following the Sandy Point High School Sports day
on February 28th 2009, officers of the Drug Unit conducted
stop and search operations in the vicinity. A number
of persons and vehicles were searched for drugs, arms
and ammunition. Jermaine Woodley of Old Road, was
driving motor car PA 6651 when it was stopped and
searched by the officers.
A number of packets containing marijuana was found
in the vehicle. Woodley along with his passengers
Roger Ottley, Akeem Mathis and Kiniski Lewis all of
Old Road were arrested and charged for possession
of the illegal drug, as well as possession with intent
to supply to another.
On March 1, 2009, Jermaine Carey of Tabernacle was
arrested and charged for possession of marijuana.
Menilec Tyson of Ramsbury Site, Nevis, was arrested
and formally charged for attempted murder. The alleged
offence was committed on January 6, 2009 at Craddock
Road.
COURT CONVICTIONS
On March 2, 2009, at a sitting of the Basseterre
Magistrate Court, 19 year old Jason Henderson of Cayon
was convicted for possession of marijuana. He was
ordered to perform 100 hours of community service
at the Cayon Police Station, in default he will spend
6 months in prison.
At the Sandy Point Juvenile Court on March 2nd 2009,
a 14-year-old juvenile from Phillips Village
was convicted for being found in enclosed premises
on February 25, 2009, house breaking and larceny committed
on 18th February 2009, and indecent assault committed
on the 18th July 2008.
He was cautioned on the first charge, and was placed
on probation for 2 years in the sum of $1,500.00.
He was also ordered to attend school regularly and
to observe a curfew from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am daily,
at his fathers residence. On all three charges
he was ordered to stay away from the complainants.
Sentencing for the second and third charges was adjourned
to March 28, 2009, pending an evaluation by the psychiatrist.
On March 3, 2009, at a sitting of the Sandy Point
Juvenile Court, a 14 year old juvenile of Newton Ground
was convicted for throwing missiles and for battery.
He was placed on a bond for 2 years in the sum of
$1,500.00. He was also placed on a curfew from 8:00
pm to 6:00 am. At his mothers house.
Jermal Jules of St. Pauls appeared before the
Sandy Point Magistrate Court charged with four counts
of larceny. He was convicted on each count and sentenced
to prison for four months on each count. Sentences
to run concurrent with a one year sentence he is presently
serving. Offences were committed on January 17th 2009
at Mount Pleasant, when Jules stole a number of electronic
items from a group of students who hiking in the hills.
Trevorn Rogers of Romney Ground Sandy Point, was
convicted for careless driving and was fined $750.00
in three months or one month in prison. He was also
disqualified from holding or obtaining a drivers
licence for one month.
Nicholas Webster of Back Way Sandy Point was convicted
for careless driving and was fined $900.00 to be paid
in 3 months or serve one month in prison.
Kirtlyn Walters of Sandy Point was convicted for
making use of insulting and threatening language and
for carrying abroad an offensive weapon. He was cautioned
for making use of insulting language, but was sentenced
to prison for one month for making use of threatening
language and two months for carrying abroad an offensive
weapon, both sentences to run consecutively.
At the Magistrates Court in Nevis on March 3, 2009,
Algernon Caesar of Maynards Ground was convicted
for possession of marijuana with intent to supply
to another. He was fined $10,00l.00 in six months
or one year in prison. The offense was committed on
Nov. 21, 2008
Two 15-year-old juveniles were convicted for indecently
assaulting a female juvenile. Their sentence was reserved
until March 17, 2009. Offence was committed on December
14, 2008.
Jermaine Stapleton of Prospect was convicted and
fined $200.00 in one month or seven days in prison
for parking in a restricted parking area in Charlestown
on Nov. 28, 2008.
