On March 1, 2009, officers of the Nevis Division conducted a speed law enforcement exercise along the Samuel Hunkins Drive and the island main road at Qualie Beach. Forty-seven (47) speeding tickets were issued to motorists exceeding the speed limit. The speeding tickets carried a penalty fine of $250.00.

One (1) driver of a motor car with heavily tinted windows was required to remove the tint from the vehicle on the spot and one person, Jamie Whyte of Barnes Ghaut, was arrested for obstructing the Police in the execution of their duty.

One driver was also ticketed for driving an unlicensed vehicle. Drivers are reminded that vehicles licensing are due in the month that corresponds with the last digit of the registration number.
