and Natural Hair Care using ancient African techniques
and through the use of herbs. She is a focused multi
-faceted entrepreneur who is devoted to all this things
African, in her words, Re-claiming and Re-Storing
our African Heritage, our Roots and our Culture.
She has an established line of clothing dubbed Njambi
D-Zines and an all natural line of natural products
called Njambi, where she uses different types local
herbs, essential oils, fragrances, flowers and more
to concoct her wonderful blend of shampoos, hair oils,
lip balms and so much more.
On Mar. 15, she will seek to awake within her people
the importance of self, our African Royal self and
the magnificence of our race. She has dubbed her Hair
and Fashion Expo: Nappy by Nature, meaning
we were all created Black with Kinky hair, naturally,
as we were meant to be.
Our hair has a story, I story, our story, a
unique story, a Royal Ancestry and thus all respect
is due, she said. We need to treat it
as such. We are a special people, a unique people
and therefore we should be proud of ourselves and
our characteristics and desist from changing it but
rather loving ourselves, accepting and respecting.
We were not made by mistake, but carved and fashioned
in the image of the Most High Creator, the I am.
This event will feature her new afro centric T-shirt
line called REVOLUTION. In addition she will depict
the origin of most of our natural hairstyles, revealing
the ancient story of Dreadlocks, the 1st hairstyle,
a royal hairstyle, ( a hairstyle that is viewed by
many as taboo) the Afro, the Chauzi (Cha-oo-zee) and
many other authentic African hairstyles we see today.
It will take you way back, bac-2-your ROOTS;
Africa the Motherland, the cradle of Civilisation.
You will see how the hairstyles worn today were truly
just handed down through the generations. The culmination
of the evening of Black beauty will see the exotic
art of Head wrapping being portrayed.
Her aim is to provide a motivational approach to
helping each Brotha and Sista through his or her journey,
whether for hair care or African Awareness.
It is not about conforming to other peoples
standards or perceptions of your hair, it is not about
destroying your hair through chemical warfare, it
is not about perpetuating false expectations of your
hair, but rather, accepting ourselves and our hair
in its most natural form, the God created way.
We need total liberation. Liberation of our
minds, and ourselves. Let the Willie Lynch syndrome
be eradicated from our beings, only then will we be
free, free to just be, she said.
She envisions a time when all Black people would
be united through their colour and culture. Marcus
Garvey said: We need to take the kinks from
our minds, not from our hair.
