ARRESTS
During a routine patrol of the compound of the JNF
Hospital by soldiers of St.Kitts-Nevis Defence Force
at about 1:00 am on February 18th 2009, the soldiers
met an intruder in the kitchen with a number of items
stolen therefrom in his possession. He was arrested
and taken to the Basseterre Police Station. The Police
made investigations and on March 4th 2009, Valentine
Graham of Cardin Ave. was arrested and formally charged
for building breaking and larceny. He is presently
at Her Majestys prison and is expected to appear
in court shortly.
Eustace Merchant of Godwin Ghaut was arrested and
charged for making use of threatening language, possession
of marijuana, battery on Police and resisting arrest.
Offences were committed on March 4th 2009 at Port
Zante.
On March 4th 2009, Devon Fraser of Craddock Road
was arrested and charged for wounding, and offence
committed on 14th February 2009.
Kurt Duncan of Upper Cayon was on 5th March 2009
arrested and charged for the offence of obstruction,
committed on 4th March 2009.
Jahmelar Nias of Gillard Meadow, Wayne Ible of Cayon
Street and Brian Farrell of New Pond Site were all
arrested and charged for possession of marijuana and
for the cultivation of marijuana. The offences were
committed on 5th March 2009.
CONVICTIONS
Jerome Herbert of St. Peters appeared before the
Basseterre Magistrate Court on March 4th 2009 charged
with careless driving. He was convicted and fined
$650.00 in three months or 2 weeks in prison.
Brian Francis of Needsmust Estate was convicted for
wounding and malicious damage, committed on December
18th 2008. He was cautioned, and ordered to pay $3,200.00
compensation to the Government for the damages he
caused to a police vehicle.
Devon Albertine of Ottleys Village appeared
before the court on 5th March 2009 to answer charges
of wounding and assault, committed on 16th July and
13th August 2008. He was convicted and sentenced to
twelve months in prison for each offence, to run consecutively.
Sleuree Williams of Lower Monkey Hill was convicted
and cautioned for driving without due care and attention
on 10th September 2008. Williams was also convicted
and ordered to pay $300.00 for failing to produce
insurance within the specified five-day period. The
fine must be paid within one week or serve one month
in prison.
Roy Andries of Halfway Tree was ordered to pay $200.00
within one week or serve one week in prison having
been convicted for driving carelessly on 17th November
2008.
Henry Pemberton of New Road was convicted for failing
to comply with traffic signs and was ordered to pay
$200.00 forthwith.
Clive Lake of Tabernacle was convicted for driving
off the bus route on 3rd October 2008 and was fined
$100.00 forthwith.
Vernon Nias of Conaree Village was fined $500.00
payable within two weeks or serve one month in prison
for driving without due care and attention on 6th
July 2008.
Hilton Morton of Cayon was also convicted for driving
without due and attention and ordered to pay $500.00
in two weeks or serve one month in prison. The offence
was committed on 25th July 2008.
Krispin Touma of Frigate Bay also appeared before
the court and was fined $300.00 forthwith for careless
driving. The offence was committed on 25th October
2008.
Denver Fyfield of St. Peters was convicted for obstructing
police officers while executing their duties, and
fined $500.00 payable on the same day.
Marrishain Gibson of Tabernacle was convicted and
fined $300.00 forthwith for driving without due care
and attention.
Kimberly Byron of Ponds Extension appeared before
the court and was convicted for larceny and fined
$500.00 payable within two months or serve one month
in prison. Byron was also ordered to pay $552.00 in
compensation. The offence was committed on 18th May
2008. Damien Nisbett of Stapleton Village was convicted
for possession of ammunition and for possession of
cannabis and was convicted and sentenced to five years
and two years respectively. The sentences are to run
concurrently.
Steve Brown of Cotton Ground appeared before the
district C Magistrate Court on 10th March 2009 and
was convicted and cautioned for driving an unregistered
vehicle, for driving when he was not covered by insurance
and for driving when he was not the holder of a valid
and unexpired drivers licence. Donford Martin of Ramsbury
appeared before the said court and was convicted and
fined $500.00 for driving a vehicle without the consent
of the owner, for driving when not covered by insurance
and for driving when not the holder of a valid and
unexpired drivers licence. The fine must be paid within
three months or Martin will serve one month in prison.
