The McKnight
community continues to experience violent gun crimes
as another youngster was shot multiple times in an early
morning assault last Friday. 17-year-old Sylvester Crossley
of Fort Thomas Road was fortunate to survive being shot
approximately five times about his body by a masked
assailant.
According to neighbors in the vicinity of Cunningham
Street where he collapsed, the teens father whisked
him away to the hospital before EMS could arrive on
the scene. He reportedly underwent emergency surgery
to treat his wounds.
One resident near to the crime scene told The Observer
that she heard multiple shots in succession which sounded
to her like machine gun fire. I was just getting
up when I heard the shots one behind the other. I stayed
put until they stopped. I peeped through the window
and saw people heading in the direction of the avenues.
A while after I heard persons on the street saying Syl
got shot.
Police Public Relations Officer Inspector Cromwell Henry
informed The Observer that so far no leads had panned
out and they had no suspects being investigated. He
did confirm that a number of spent shells were found
at the scene.
At about 6:40 a.m. on July 3rd 2009, police responded
to a report of shooting at Malone Avenue. Investigations
revealed that Sylvester Crossley of Fort Thomas Road
was sitting on Malone Ave. when an armed masked man
approached him and opened fire on him injuring him multiple
times about his body. He was taken to the JNF Hospital
where he was treated and warded in stable condition.
We recovered about 5 cartridges at the scene which appear
to be 9 mm shells. We did not find the weapon used to
shoot the young man. Investigations are ongoing. |
