RBC & RBTT Launch Support Red Cross Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund
 
RBC/RBTT branches also accepting public donations to Red Cross Relief Fund in Canada and across the Caribbean.

Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), parent company of RBC Caribbean and RBTT Bank, on Sunday announced a Can$100,000 donation to the Red Cross to support relief and humanitarian efforts in Haiti.

"The scale of this disaster is enormous and its impact has been devastating to thousands of people and their communities," said Gordon Nixon, President & CEO of RBC. "We have a long-standing tradition of responding when communities are in need, and on behalf of our clients and employees, we are proud to support the relief effort with a donation."

"The Red Cross is responding on the ground to the needs of the Haitian people as quickly as possible," said Conrad Sauvé, Secretary General of the Canadian Red Cross. "Thanks to the network of Red Cross Societies, everyone can be confident that their Red Cross donations are reaching people during this difficult time."

The most urgent needs identified by the Red Cross are for search and rescue efforts, field hospitals, emergency health services, water purification, emergency shelter, logistics and telecommunications. Across the Caribbean, RBC and RBTT are working with the respective Red Cross Societies in each jurisdiction to open bank accounts for the public and employees to make contributions to the relief efforts.

"This is a truly tragic event for one of the poorest nations in the Western hemisphere and our hearts go out to the more than three million people who have been affected," stated Suresh Sookoo, RBTT Group CEO.
