| SHOOTING AT SHEAR LANE
On Wednesday 27th
January 2010 police at Basseterre responded to a report
of gunshots heard at about 12:10 pm at Shear Lane.
Investigations revealed that Elroy Cannonier of Neverson
Street East, Newtown who is in his early twenties
was shot at while he was at Shear Lane. Cannonier
escaped without injury. No one has been arrested,
however investigations are ongoing. Police are looking
for a suspect. Please contact the nearest police station

WOUNDING
On Saturday 23rd January
2010 at approximately 4:50 pm police officers on duty
in the vicinity of the People's Action Movement (PAM)
constituency office at The Alley, Sandy Point responded
to the screams of a fleeing crowd during the Labour
Party motorcade that was travelling in the direction
of B's Supermarket from The Alley, Sandy Point. Investigations
revealed that Tamika Richards, 19, of The Alley Sandy
Point was found lying on the ground with a bleeding
wound on her forehead. Richards was taken to the Pogson
Medical Centre and was seen and treated by Dr. Oduntun.
She was then transferred to the JNF General Hospital
for further examinations. She received a few sutures
for the wound and was discharged but was unable to
give a detailed statement due to pain and discomfort.
No one has been arrested but investigations are ongoing.
ARREST MADE AFTER
SEARCH WARRANT EXECUTED
On Friday 22nd January
2010 at approximately 5:55 am police in the District
'B' area, the Crime Response Unit (CRU) and members
of the St. Kitts and Nevis Defense Force acting on
intelligence executed a search warrant on a premises
at Godwin Estate belonging to Chesley Hamilton. Investigations
revealed that Warren Thompson, 26, a native of Jamaica,
was found in the said premises. He was arrested and
taken into police custody after a portion of illegal
substance suspected to be cannabis was found on the
premises. Thompson was formally charged and cautioned
at the Basseterre Police Station and was taken before
Her Worship Mrs. Bullen-Thompson the presiding Magistrate
at the Basseterre Magistrates' Court where he was
remanded in custody at Her Majesty's Prison until
Friday 29th January 2010. It was also discovered that
Thompson is presently on bail for possession of cannabis
charge and is awaiting trial. Further investigations
revealed that Thompson entered the Federation on Wednesday
8th July 2009 and his extension expired on Friday
8th January 2010. It is likely that Thompson will
face immigration charges and or deportation for overstaying.
However, investigations into this matter are ongoing.
