| Diabetics: "Try-Not-To-Eat"
Foods |

People with diabetes need a "try-not-to-eat"
list - a list of foods that they should avoid. My "try-not-to-eat"
list has a lot of concentrated sugary foods that make
my blood sugar levels go up more easily than "good-for-you"
balanced meals and snacks. Your list doesn't have to
be exactly like mine, but you can use it as a guide.
My "Try-Not-To-Eat" List:
o Cookies and pastries
o Doughnuts
o Candy
o Fatty fried foods
o Honey
o Jam and jelly
o Puddings, cakes and pies
o Syrups
o Sugar
o Most dried fruits
o Sugar-sweetened soft drinks
o Sugar-coated cereals
o White flour breads
If you leave the junk food out of your diet, your taste
buds will eventually change. You will start to like,
or even love, the taste of "healthy foods"
like fruits, vegetables, whole grains and low-fat protein.
