Travelling Bible Reaches Nevis

Travelling Bible

‘Follow the Bible’ was the theme on evening of Friday, June 28, at the Beulah Seventh Day Adventist Church on Nevis, as the travelling Bible made its grand arrival on Nevis.

The huge Bible, which is an exact replica of an original masterpiece, weighs 15 pounds and is 18 inches in length and 12 inches wide. It was brought to Nevis in the safe custody of Pastor Henry Peters in his capacity as the Personal Ministries, Sabbath School Director and Prayer Coordinator of the North Caribbean conference of Seventh day Adventists.

The idea started in Manila, Philippines, when the Seventh Day Adventist churches thought about getting a Bible to travel virtually around the world in order to direct all who encountered it to adopt a more meaningful dedication to the word of God and the principles outlined therein.

Since then the Bible has been passed from Division to Division, and from country to country. The entire book was handwritten on November 14, 2009, when church members across the North Caribbean Conference were asked to write specific passages of the Bible.

The membership in Antigua and Barbuda dealt with the New Testament and the other islands within the Conference dealt with the Old Testament books. The handwritten manuscripts, which will be bounded and placed on exhibition at the upcoming worldwide General Conference of Seventh Day Adventists session, were placed on display at the Beulah Church to be viewed by energized members.

The evening’s program included an address by Minister of Social Development, Hon Hensley Daniel, during which he appealed to all present to return to the biblical principles. Special renditions were performed by Sisters, Juliet Languedoc and Natasha Warner.

Pastor Henry Peters then delivered an inspiring sermon in which he elaborated on the benefits of studying God’s word.

He later symbolically presented the huge Bible to resident Pastors Languedoc and Benjamin.

The Bible recently passed through the U.S. and British Virgin Islands, as well as St. Kitts, prior to arriving on Nevis.

It will continue to make its way to the other islands within the conference before concluding its trip at the 59th General Conference session of Seventh day Adventists, which will be held from Thursday, June 24 to Saturday, July 3, 2010 at the Georgia dome in Atlanta, USA.
