In July 2009, the Cabinet, approved the establishment of an Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Finland in St. Kitts and Nevis at the request of its Caracas-based Finnish Embassy.

In giving its approval, the contributions of Dr. Kathleen Allen-Ferdinand to Medicine were noted in relation to matters involving HIV/AIDS, as well as her chairpersonship of the National Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS.

The government believes that Dr. Ferdinand’s appointment provides great impetus for a productive relation between Finland and takes this opportunity to wish this outstanding citizen well in all her diplomatic and other endeavours.
