As part of the restructuring of the Caricom Secretariat, a change facilitation team is in St. Kitts-Nevis conducting national consultations with individual and collective stakeholders. The team began meeting with various members of civil society as well as the public and private sectors on Monday (Oct 28), starting with representatives from the Ministry of International Trade and members of the Federal Government. On Tuesday the change facilitation team met with the Governor General, members of the National Assembly and the Opposition, representatives from the Chamber of Industry and Commerce, St. Kitts Manufacturing Association, Small Business Forum, National Coalition of Service Providers and others from the private sector. Wednesday’s schedule includes meeting with Youth Ambassadors and members of youth organizations and NGOs; Primary and Secondary school principals; resident Ambassadors; representatives of international and regional missions including OAS, UNESCO, CARDI, and IICA; and officials from tertiary education institutes- CFBC, UWI and AVEC. The information garnered will form part of the process as Caricom re-examines the future direction of the Community and the role and function of the Secretariat.
