A Saturday night (Nov 16) drive by shooting that left two men hospitalized could lead to a turf war between the villages of Cayon and St. Pauls. This is according to a number of residents in Cayon where the shooting occurred. Information reaching The Observer is that at about 7:30 that evening Javid Bishop of Cayon and Moril Norford of St. Pauls were reportedly gambling at a roadside in the Sarah Bowry area when chaos erupted. According to a source, a car drove up and one of its passengers opened fire before the vehicle sped off. The men scrambled to escape the hail of gunfire; however one man was struck in the foot while the other was hit in the hip and stomach. Both men were transported to the JNF hospital where Norford, the more severely wounded victim, underwent emergency surgery and is now in stable condition. Police Commissioner CG Walwyn has reiterated his plea to the Cayon community to partner with the police in order to arrest the gun violence in the village. “We need to stop these shootings and killings. Someone saw that vehicle that night; someone knows who was in that vehicle. Contact Crime stoppers at 1-800-8477, any police station, call my personal number or even ‘Whatsapp’ me, send me an email. The police can’t do it alone, we need your help in order to help you and your families be safe,”he told The Observer.
