Gingerland Police Station is investigating a traffic accident which occurred on Saturday, Feb. 1, at about 8:50am. The accident occurred at Market Shop, Gingerland and claimed one life. According to a police press release, initial investigation revealed that it was a young man of Hicksman Village, Gingerland. The young man is said to have operated a motorcycle with speed and was unable to maneuver the corner up from Market Shop, which resulted in the crash. The young man was later identified as Julius Manners who was 26. District Doctor, Chandy Jacobs pronounced Manners dead at the scene, stating that he suffered head injuries and broken legs. This is the first fatal traffic accident in Nevis for the year.
