The top athletes flying the flag of St. Kitts and Nevis at the current IAAF World Championships in Beijing, China, have all put in disappointing performances. Kim Collins, Brijesh Lawrence and Antoine Adams failed to qualify from their Heats in the 100m on Saturday evening in Beijing. Opening the Meet for the Federation’s athletes was Adams, running in Heat 4 of the 100m. He could only muster a time of 10:23 seconds for fourth place. Lawrence stopped the clock in 10:40 seconds for sixth place in Heat five, which also failed to see him qualify for the Semi-finals. Collins also suffered a similar fate. Running in Heat 6, the veteran and former World Champion clocked 10:16 seconds for fifth place. Race favourite and defending champion Usain Bolt took gold in that event, while Justin Gatlin of the United States took home Silver and Trayvon Bromell and Andre De Grasse won the bronze medal. Adams returned to the track today (Tuesday 25), to compete in the 200m, but the disappointment continued as he failed to qualify, earning a sixth place with a time of 20.75s in Heat 4. The race was won by Justin Gatlin with a time of 20.19s. The St. Kitts-Nevis athletes will now return to their respective home bases as they are not competing in the sprint relay.
