Economic & Community Benefits to St. Kitts to Impact in Early 2014 Basseterre, St. Kitts (November 19, 2013) – At a meeting held in Chicago on Monday, November 11, 2013, Hyatt Hotels Corporation’s senior executive management team and project designers reviewed and approved the final designs for Park Hyatt St. Kitts, scheduled to be completed by the end of 2015. “I am delighted to have achieved this significant stage in the development of Park Hyatt St. Kitts,’said Rakesh Sarna, Americas Group President of Hyatt Hotels Corporation. “It is an exciting time to see the plans for this hotel come to life, through its stunning design.”The plans for Park Hyatt St. Kitts demonstrate a commitment to responsible tourism that is aligned with the sustainable tourism goals of St. Kitts. According to the plans, the development will benefit the island’s local communities in addition to helping to preserve the scenic natural beauty of the surrounding landscape. The developers have also committed to commence hiring and training Kittitians & Nevisians, well in advance of the resort’s opening, in delivering a luxury destination experience and managing an offshore resort. “Not only is the Park Hyatt project vital to the future economic growth of St. Kitts & Nevis, but this meeting has increased my confidence that the project has all the right elements of sustainability embedded in its design. Kier’s plans for the development include providing employment in construction and maximizing the use of local materials and resources. Approximately 350 construction jobs as well as additional training program jobs are expected to be created in Phase One.
