Patrick “South”Weekes of Bird Rock is recovering from emergency surgery after being shot Saturday night (June 14). Sometime around 7 that night Weekes was reportedly shot once while in the Bird Rock area. The Observer was reliably informed that Weekes was shot under the arm. He was rushed to the JNF Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery and has been warded in stable condition. Less than three weeks prior Weekes, along with Cassanya Lanns, was arrested and charged with Possession of Cocaine and Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Supply. The charges stemmed from a May 29 police search of Weekes’ Bird Rock residence that turned up a quantity of cocaine. He and Lanns received station bail the next day. This is not Weekes’ first brush with death at the hands of gunmen. In September 2013 he was shot in the face at his previous residence at Pitcairn Street, Newtown. Police have not taken any suspects into custody for this latest shooting.
