Eleven primary school graduates have been awarded the ‘2015 Social Security Susanna Lee High School Scholarship’ to assist their academic quest at the secondary level. The program, which is in its 32nd year, is geared towards assisting those students whose parents may have some degree of difficulty in providing adequate financial support for them during their studies in high school. This year’s awardees are Zanique Williams, Charles E. Mills High School; Sabrina Naraine, Washington Archibald High School; Shaniah Flemming, Basseterre High School; J’Simba Mitcham, Wrenzanae Thomas and Raziq Charles, Cayon High School; Shomar Bowry, Saddlers Secondary School; Jacquan Clarke, Charlestown Secondary School; Fiquesha Garnette, Verchilds High School; Charlyn Meyers and Steve Walters, Gingerland Secondary. They were presented with certificates by Nevis Premier, Hon. Vance Amory, who has responsibility for Social Security. Over the last three decades the Scholarship Committee has assisted over 190 students in completing High School, Colleges and University studies, investing approximately EC$1.5 Million towards the program. In addition, Social Security has made $22million available to Development Bank to assist in tertiary education development for students of the federation.
