Lanein Blanchette, daughter of Andy and Hilarene Blanchette is the new Law Society Sports Committee Chairperson 2014/15 at the UWI – Cave Hill Campus. An avid sports lover, Lanein decided that this was the best medium through which to participate since suffering a netball injury last year and being unable to take part in Law Sports. After the votes had been counted on Wednesday 19 th March she emerged victorious with a total of 240 votes. Among her plans to revamp the Pre-Sports Day activities in the 2nd semester; the second year Law student intends to reintroduce indoor sports and games in order to accommodate persons who may be unable to participate in the more physical activities. Additionally, realising that the annual Football tournament is generally bombarded by the men of the Law Faculty, she will introduce a Netball tournament in an effort to engage more women. In her thank you note to the general Law Society population, Lanein said that she was humbled by everyone’s confidence in her to lead and represent the Law Society. She further congratulated her colleagues and said that she was looking forward to working together as a team. The St. Kitts-Nevis Students’ Association extends congratulations to its former Vice President.
