On Sunday, August 1, the Nevis Cultural Complex was packed with spectator’s cheering on the six contestants in the 2010 Miss Culture Queen Pageant, which was themed “I am A Sistah!- The beauty in me.” The contestants were: Ms. Ulinda Warner, sponsored By LIME; Ms. Mary Wangui Ngunjiri, sponsored By Island Tyres & Hardware Ltd.; Ms. Deslyn Dore, sponsored By Dan Backhoe, Trucking & Redimix Ltd.; Ms. Te-Shell Sutton, sponsored By the Development Bank of St. Kitts & Nevis; Ms. Trevancia Adams, sponsored By Carib Brewey St. Kitts & Nevis Ltd.; and Ms. Verna Grante, sponsored By Coastal Air Transport. Ms. Adams took home the prize for Ms. Photogenic, which wasn’t for points but was based on the votes of two photographers. Ms. Congeniality/Amity was won By Ms. Wangui Ngunjiri, who was chosen amongst the contestants themselves. With a total of 217.5 points, the winner for the 1st segment, Best Promotional Speech, was won By Ms. Dore. Ms. Grante managed to win the judges over with her talent, when she performed in the pouring rain, gaining her a total of 305 points and winning the 2nd segment. The 3rd segment, Best Cultural Evening Wear, went to Ms. Adams with a total of 207 points. She modeled a beautiful gold dress. The final segment, Best Interview, was won By Ms. Grante with a total of 241.5 points. The actual placings were: Ms. Adams, 2nd runner up with 885 points; Ms. Dore, 1st runner up with 915 points. Ms. Grante was crowned as Miss Culture Queen for 2010 with a solid 958 points.
