Cable & Wireless recommitted itself to the St. Kitts Music Festival last Friday with a sponsorship cheque of US$100,000.

Patricia Walters, C.E.O. of Cable & Wireless, said that the company was especially proud of the level of its sponsorship this year.

“Cable & Wireless made a promise to the Music Festival Committee that as the festival grew so would the level of our sponsorship. We have fulfilled that promise by upping the amount of money donated as the festival reaches a milestone of ten years,” Walters said, during the press conference held at SKNIS.

Chairman of the Festival, Allistair Williams, commended Cable & Wireless for their unwavering support and contribution to the success of the annual event.

“Cable & Wireless has been a steadfast corporate sponsor since the inception of the Music Festival and the committee would like to thank them for keeping the course and becoming our number one partner. They have come forward in a momentous way on this our 10th anniversary. We appreciate theirs and every sponsorship, as we could not pull off this fantastic festival year after year without our corporate sponsors,” Williams said.

Festival co-chairman, Lloyd Lazar thanked Cable & Wireless for taking the leadership and becoming the single largest investor in the festival.

Lazar noted that it requires a sustained effort from the corporate community, locally and regionally, for the festival to remain the best and most unique in our region.

Lavern Caines, Corporate Vice President of Sales at C&W commented that ten years is a significant milestone in any event, adding that many doubters felt the festival would not have arrived at this juncture.

She said that the company’s sponsorship was a critical aspect in solidifying its commitment to the economic growth and development of the country.

So far Cable & Wireless has pledged in excess of US$250,000 to the festival. Walters said C&W recognised that the festival was one of the biggest pulls of visitors during the off season and encouraged other corporate partners to step up their sponsorship as well.
