Emotional Health Is Tied To Physical Well-Being

By Dr. Miranda Fellows

Emotion has been shown by the latest research to be a complex reaction between the body and mind. This results in chemical reactions in the brain and cells, which produces energy made of electrical and magnetic nerve signals. These energies or emotions literally have a frequency, which radiates outwards from our energy field. The mind is a field of energy made up of the brain, the body, and the entire energy field. These chemicals and energy patterns are stored in the mind-body field and this is called emotional memory. Patterns of thought and behavior are caused by one’s perception.

Perceptions and beliefs are represented by the stored configurations of memory held in an electromagnetic field we call our mind. Past experiences and perceptions of them control reflex responses. These emotional reflexes can then be replayed and create interferences to normal functions in life and limit one’s ability to perceive situations properly.

The way the body responds to physical trauma applies equally to the response to an emotional mishap or to a chronic psychological state. Psychological attitudes are always represented in bodily structure. Fear, grief, and anger, each have a characteristic pose and pattern of movement, sometimes reverted to as “body language”. An emotional response immediately causes contraction of muscles pulling vertebrae out of alignment (subluxation), and movement away from structural balance. Each imbalance must be compensated by displacements of other parts of the body. Recovery from an emotional shock requires flexibility and resilience of the musculoskeletal system, and ability to return the body structure to balance. If an individual continues to dramatize an emotional situation, the physical body becomes set into a psychological pattern.

The imbalances resulting from physical or emotional trauma can lead to a whole realm of chronic problems for which conventional medicine has little to offer. The more serious of these being arthritis, high blood pressure, even cancer, are whole systems phenomena that cannot be understood by examining parts rather than relationships.

Emotional Mastery: Identify what you’re Really Feeling.

So often people feel so overloaded they don’t even know what they are feeling. All they know is that they’re being “attacked” by all these negative emotions and feelings. Instead of feeling overload, step back for a moment and ask yourself, “What am I really feeling right now?”. If you think at first “I’m feeling angry”, begin to ask yourself, “Am I really feeling angry? Or is it something else? Maybe what I’m really feeling is hurt. Or I feel like I’ve lost out on something”. Realizing that a feeling of hurt or a feeling of loss is not as intense as the feeling of anger. Just in taking a moment to identify what you are really feeling, and beginning to question your emotions, you may be able to lower the emotional intensity you are experiencing, and therefore deal with the situation much more easily and quickly. Learn to acknowledge and appreciate your emotions, knowing that hey support you. What you feel is not “wrong”. The idea that anything that you feel is wrong is a way to destroy honest communication with yourself and with others. Be thankful that there is part of your brain that is sending you a signal of support, a call to action to make a change in either your perception of some aspect of your life or in your actions. If you’re willing to trust your emotions, knowing that even though you don’t understand them at the moment, each and every one you experience is there to support you in making a positive change. You will immediately stop the war you once had with yourself. Whatever you resist tends to persist. Cultivate the feeling of appreciation for all emotions, and like a child that needs attention, you’ll find your emotions “calming down” almost immediately.
