(Charlestown, Nevis) – It’s all about good food.
And, to be technical, about good drinks and other products as well.
Agriculture Open Day on Nevis opened on April 24 at the Villa in Charlestown with dozens of booths displaying crops, livestock and other locally-grown products.
The event will continue until 6 p.m. on April 25. There is a $2 admission fee.
This year’s theme is “Micro Farming: the Driving Force for Agriculture Past, Present and Future.”
Displays included honey bees, fruits, vegetables, pottery and farm animals ñ plus lots of opportunities to purchase locally-produced goods.
According to the Department of Agriculture, the goals of this year’s Open Day include:
-Highlighting appropriate technology necessary for Agricultural development
-Creating a greater awareness of the activities of the Department
-Fostering greater collaboration between the Department of Agriculture, its clients and allied agencies.
-Showcasing high quality produce
-Educating the public on the need for increased food production
The Departments of Co-operatives and Fisheries will also be participating in the activities Other agencies at Open Day will include CARDI, IICA and Mission Taiwan as well as the East Caribbean Group of Companies.
