Two persons were held at gunpoint and robbed in the early hours of last Sunday at a club event.

While enjoying a night out, a couple left a club and went outside to a dark area where vehicles were parked. The female needed to urinate, and was escorted by her boyfriend.

As they left the immediate vicinity of the club, an unknown man wielding a gun accosted and robbed them.

The young woman was able to run back toward the club where security was alerted. A search of the area turned up nothing as the assailant had already fled the scene of the crime.

According to police reports, the couple was robbed of keys, cellular phone, and an undisclosed sum of money.

The police report did not indicate if the gunman was masked.

Club owners say while the incident was extremely unfortunate, it occurred some distance from the venue, and that the club always provides adequate security in the form of three Army officers. The owners say two officers man the entrance and exit while the third does routine patrols.

Acting Commissioner Meredith Charles said the police were investigating the matter.
