Phipps to deliver address on immunization observances
BASSETERR, St. Kitts – The Honourable Wendy C. Phipps, minister of state with responsibility for health, will officially address the nation on the observance of the 16th Vaccination Week in the Americas (VWA) and the 7th World Immunization Week.
The address will be carried on ZIZ Radio (95.9, 96.1 and 96.9 FM) at 7:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 21.
Vaccination Week in the Americas (VWA) is an annual public health campaign by the member states of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) to promote equity and access to immunization. It is marked this year from April 21–28.
World Immunization Week is a global public health campaign to raise awareness and increase rates of immunization against vaccine-preventable diseases around the world. It takes place this year April 24-30.
The theme for Vaccination Week in the Americas 2018 is “#GetVax”/”#VaccinesWork” and the theme for World Immunization Week 2018 is “Protected Together, #VaccinesWork.”
