St. Kitts and Nevis has been chosen to host this year’s 18th annual celebration of the St. Kitts-Nevis & Anguilla Association Reunion ANSAR slated for June 22- 24 and a packed calendar is planned for patrons.

The aim and objectives of the event is to establish and rekindle old alliances, To strengthen the bonds of friendship and brotherhood, To participate in various social activities, discuss matters of mutual interest, including issues of economic development

To remain connected by our communal heritage, our history and cultural legacy, To promote greater international awareness of Anguilla, Nevis and St. Kitts.
The theme for this year’s event is ‘Renewing and Strengthening our Relations, Celebrating our Achievements and Uniting our People’

Kittitian Faustina France-Carbonneau founded the executive body of the St. Kitts-Nevis & Anguilla Association of Montreal in 1983. After contacting other Nationals at home and abroad, it was agreed that the idea had generated sufficient interest in putting together the first ever reunion of Nationals of St. Kitts-Nevis & Anguilla.,

On Tuesday the current chairman of ANSAR Calvin James accompanied by Michael Hendrickson spoke with the Observer and gave a brief history of the event and what to expect for the celebration of the 18th anniversary of ANSAR

“We are here to bring all the nationals around the world together. ANSAR is being held in different cities every two years. The last ANSAR was in Montreal in 2016, 2008 it was held in St. Kitts,” he said.

Continuing he said that the when retuning nationals along with residing national come together the celebrate comradery, exchange pleasantries and at the same time they want to have the networking aspect of it.
James highlighted the events that will take place during the weekend long event.
• June 22 meet and greet that will be held in St Kitts
• June 23 officially opening will be held at the Nevis Performing art theater NEPAC under the patronage of the Governor General. Lunch will follow and then a bus tour around the island.
• The evening of the 23 a Gala will be held
• June 24 a Thanking giving service will held at the St Kitts Marriott
That afternoon Market Place will be open at the Marriott. Items sold in the Marketplace are clothing including Batik wear, music, arts and crafts, books, photographs, souvenir items etc. Confectionery food items are also allowed including cakes and pastry items.
• In the will be the Cultural Explosion Extravaganza. This event will be showcasing talent from St. Kitts, Nevis and Anguilla .

Persons interested can purchase tickets for each event and currently there are early bird specials. Along with the event an Essay competition is planned for both high school and primary school students.

“The event is not just for returning nationals it is for everyone,” James said.
