Basseterre, St. Kitts-Former Champions S L Hosfors St. Pauls has leap frog defending champions Flow 4g Cayon Rockets after handing them their first defeat of the season in last weekend’s St. Kitts Nevis Football Association Premier League.

Entering the game on Saturday evening both teams were undefeated with Cayon protecting a perfect start to the season and St. Pauls yet to concede

However it was the former champions who looked the aggressor to start the game with early pressure on the Cayon defenders with attack after attack but failed to convert their many opportunities. However in the 17th minute Josh Leader pounced on a goal keeper error to put his side ahead.

The former champions continued their dominance for the remainder of the half but did not put the Cayon team to the sword as they failed to convert their scoring opportunities.

In the second half, Cayon found their groove and controlled possession for majority of the period but for the most part failed to translate it into quality goal scoring opportunities. However in the last 10 minutes of the game, Cayon pressed for an equalising goal they were denied by the heroic Jamal Francis in the St. Pauls goal coming up with several late saves as his team held on to their slender advantage.

In the earlier game on Saturday Old Road Jets also recorded a 1-0 victory over Delta Petroleum Sandy Point thanks to a late goal by Dornel Bernier in the 80th minute. The game saw both teams being wasteful in their opportunities throughout the course of the game.

On Sunday the team at the foot of the table Fast Cash SPD pulled off an upset victory over Sol Island Conaree to record their first win of the season and climb off the base of the table.

SPD got off to the most perfect start when on two minutes Jermari Trotman gave them a shock lead. However, Keyshawn Francis’ 42nd minute strike cancelled out SPD’s early goal.

In the second half it was all SPD as Nicqaun Phipps restored their lead in the 56thminutes before Steve Barnes rounded off the scoring in the 83rd minute.

The final game of the weekend saw two goals from Kimaree Rogers power the Rams Village Superstars to a comfortable 3-1 victory over Harris Paint St. Peters.
