POLICE INVESTIGATE ROBBERY AND SHOOTING
Police are investigating reports of robbery and shooting which occurred in Cayon on June 15th 2008. Investigations reveal that at about 1:20am two persons were sitting in motor car PA3372 at Brighton’s when a masked gunman ordered them out of the vehicle took their cell phones then left with the vehicle. At about 1:30 am a person or persons opened fire from the stolen vehicle on bystanders at Henry’s Night Spot in Cayon. Two persons were injured and were taken to the JNF Hospital where they were treated. One has since been discharged while the other was detained in stable condition.
The Police are seeking the assistance of the general public in locating motor car PA3372, which is a metallic blue 1993 Nissan Station Wagon, or to provide any information on these crimes. Persons with information are asked to call the Cayon Police Station at telephone number 465-7258 or the criminal Investigations Department at 465 2241 ext. 220, 230 or 236.
YOUNG MAN SUSTAINED MULTIPLE GUN SHOT INJURIES IN ATTACK
At about 10:00 pm on June 13th 2008 Police responded to a report of gun shots being fired at Ottley’s Extension. Investigations reveal that Rohan Browne of Ottley’s Ext. was shot in both legs and hand by a gun-man, while he was in his yard. He was taken to the JNF Hospital where he was treated and is currently detained. Investigations are on going.
Police are investigating a burglary that occurred on Tuesday 17th June 2008 at about 1:00 a.m at Ponds Extension where a young lady was sexually assaulted by an unknown male who broke and entered her house.
Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred in Sandy Point on the Main Road at about 8 p.m on Wednesday 11th June 2008. Investigations reveal that two men had an exchange of gun shot. No one was injured. Two young men are in custody assisting Police in their investigation.
Denzil Williams of Cayon but who resides at Bouncing Hill, Sandy Point, and Adonis Warner are presently being sought by the police in connection with this shooting.
Police are also investigating a robbery that occurred in Saddlers on Thursday 12th June 2008 at about 2:30 p.m in which the Rams Wholesale delivery driver was robbed of a sum of money by an armed masked man while delivering goods to a shop. The driver and shop attendant escaped without injuries and the gun man made his escape with a sum of money that was handed over to him by the driver.
Kebbler Lewis and Jason Liddie of Cardin Avenue who were charged with the offences of obstruction, resisting arrest and battery appeared before the District ‘A’ Magistrate Court on June 16th 2008. Lewis was convicted and cautioned on all charges. While Liddie was convicted and fined $500.00 in two weeks or 14 days in prison. The offences were committed on 15th January 2008.
A 15 year old juvenile from Carty alley, Newtown, appeared before the said court to answer the charge of carrying abroad an offensive weapon and he was convicted and sentenced to one month in prison. The offence was committed on 18th January 2008.
A 17 year old juvenile from Trafalgar Village also appeared before the court and was convicted for the offence of house breaking and larceny and placed on probation for two years. He was ordered to pay $2,400.00 to the complainant, and to keep the peace and be of good behavior. Compensation must be paid in four months or the juvenile will serve two months in prison. On 14th February 2007 the 17 year break and entered the home Glenroy Marshall at Bird Rock and stole a number of items from the residence including a laptop, clothing and a radio.
Byran Drew of Gulf View, Frigate Bay, was on Tuesday 17th June 2008 arrested and charged with the offence of driving without insurance.
A 17 years old juvenile from Sprott Street was arrested and charged on Tuesday 17th June 2008 with the offences of robbery, resisting arrest, battery and carrying abroad an offensive weapon.
A 14 years old juvenile from Phillips Village was arrested and charged on Tuesday 17th June 2008 with the offence of armed with an offensive weapon.
Chester Williams of Saddlers Village was on Monday 16th June 2008 arrested and charged with the offences of refusing to give his name and address and for resisting arrest. The offences were committed on 14th June 2008.
Michael Finch of Tabernacle was arrested and charged with the offence of possession of cannabis. The offence was committed on 14th June 2008.
Police responded to a report on Monday 16th June 2008 at New Road and carried investigations into a theft from a dwelling house. As a result, Junie ‘Electric’ Caines of New Road was arrested and charged with the offence of larceny.
Ian Phillip of La Guerite was arrested and charged on Monday 16th June 2008 with the offences of driving when not covered by insurance and possession of cannabis.
Andre France of Browne Pasture, Nevis, was arrested and charged with the offence of possession of cannabis.
Nakila Maynard of Ponds Extension was on Saturday 14th June 2008 arrested and charged with the offence of uttering a forged document.
Elston Phillip of The Alley, Sandy Point, was arrested and charged on Saturday 14th June 2008 with the offence of house breaking and larceny. The offence was committed on 10th June 2008.
Tanisha Uppal of Bird Rock was arrested and charged on Saturday 14th June 2008 with the offence indecent language.
Kamal Boyal of Bird Rock was on Saturday 14th June 2008 arrested and charged with the offences of driving without insurance and driving without a valid driver’s license.
Errol Herbert of Bricklin, Nevis, was arrested and charged on Saturday 14th June 2008 with the offence of possession of cannabis. The offence was committed on 13th June 2008.
Dwayne Dore of Sarah Bowry, Upper Cayon, was on Thursday 12th June 2008 arrested and charged with the offence of possession of cannabis.
TRAFFIC COURT CONVICTIONS
Jason Carloni of Frigate who was charged with the offences of driving without insurance appeared before the District ‘A’ Magistrate Court on Thursday 12th June 2008 He was convicted and ordered to pay $800.00 forthwith or serve one week in prison.
Tariq Maynard of Shadwell also appeared before the court to answer the charges of driving without insurance and driving without a valid driver’s license and he was convicted and ordered to pay $800.00 in one month or serve one month in prison for the first offence and was convicted and cautioned for the second.
Simeon Hutton of Westbourne Street who was charged with the offence of driving without due care and attention appeared before the said court and he was convicted and cautioned.
A total of 10 marijuana plants were found growing in a cane field at Ottley’s Village by police during a routine search operation on Saturday 14th June 2008. No one was held accountable for the find, but the plants which ranged in height from four to 10 feet, were uprooted and taken into police custody.
Police conducted operations in the Parsons area and a total of 350 marijuana plants were found growing in a Ghaut. The plants, which ranged from seedlings to five feet in height were uprooted and taken into police custody. A rum still was also found in the same area and was destroyed. No one was held accountable for the find.
Police are investigating a traffic accident that occurred on Friday 13th June 2008 at about 8 p.m along the island main road at Bourryeaux involving motor van P3008 driven by Warren Wilson of George Street, Tabernacle. Investigations have confirmed that a total of seven persons who were travelling on the bus sustained various injuries when the vehicle lost control and overturned. One person is detained at the hospital but all the others were treated and discharged. The vehicle, which is owned by the Tabernacle New Testament Church of God, was extensively damaged but the driver managed to escape unharmed. There were a total of 11 persons on the bus at the time of the accident. Investigations are continuing.
Police are investigating a traffic accident that occurred on Wednesday 11th June 2008 at about 8:45 p.m at Cleverly Hill, Sandy Point, involving motor car P2704. The car, which is owned by Jevon Wilkins from Romney Ground, Sandy Point, was at the time driven by Steston Wilkins of the same address when the accident occurred. The vehicle was travelling from Basseterre to Sandy Point when the tyre blew out causing the vehicle to swerve before overturning. No personal injuries were sustained but the vehicle was extensively damaged. Investigations are ongoing.
POLICE RECEIVE DONATION
The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force were once again recipients of a generous gesture when on Friday 13th June 2008; Chris James donated four office chairs to the Basseterre Guard Room on behalf of Windsor University. James who is the housing officer for the academic institution said he was very happy to be involved in such a positive manner and vowed to offer further contributions in the future. Inspector Hector, Station Officer at Basseterre Police Station thanked Mr. James on behalf of the Commissioner of Police and stated that the furniture will be put to good and proper use within the guard room.
