Gregory Walters of Stoney Grove, Allestair Isaac of Cotton Ground, Andy Silcott of Bath Village and Gavin Patterson of Prospect were convicted at the District ‘C’ Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday. Walters was fined EC$10,000 to be paid in six months or serve 1 year imprisonment if in default. He was convicted for possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply committed on May 3, 2007 on Main Street, Charlestown. Isaac was fined EC$500 to be paid in three months or 1 month imprisonment if in default for possession of controlled drugs committed the ninth of this month.

Silcott was fined EC$500 in 3 months or if in default serve 1 month in prison for carrying abroad an offensive weapon committed June 8 at Bath Village.

Patterson was fined EC$800.00 to be paid in four months or serve 1 month imprisonment for careless driving. He was also fined EC500 to be paid in six months or serve 1 month imprisonment for driving without a policy of insurance or such a security in respect of third party risk committed on May 27 at Newcastle.

Virgil ‘Hippie’ Gumbs of John England Village was convicted at the Basseterre Magistrate’s Court on Monday for resisting arrest, battery on a police officer, escaping lawful custody and wounding committed on November 30, 2006. He was fined EC$500 for each charge, with the maximum time for payment being four weeks or if in default of paying the fines, serve a total time of 4 months in prison. C.J. Duncan of Upper Monkey Hill and Travis Crawford of McKnight were convicted on the same day as Gumbs. Duncan was fined EC$1500 to be paid in 1 month or in default serve 1 month imprisonment with hard labour for possession of a controlled drug, to wit, cannabis.

Crawford was previously charged for larceny committed on May 20, 2007 and was subsequently sentenced to serve 6 months imprisonment with hard labour.

Two persons were arrested and charged on Monday. A 17-year-old male of Basseterre was charged for larceny from the person committed on June 7 at the Infirmary Road, Basseterre and Franz Stevens of Central Cayon was charged for inflicting grievous bodily harm committed against a female on May 24 at Frigate Bay.
