A Powell Will Do It Again We understand that during Mr Carlisle Powell’s, Junior Minister in the NRP Government in Nevis, rant and rave in the Nevis Island Assembly he said that it was a company that Mr Rawlingson Isaac brought that won the water bid. Was it that same Rawlingson Isaac who brought West Indies Power and got a no-bid no-disclosure contract to explore for geothermal power? Or was it that same Rawlingson Isaac who owns Choice FM and the Nevis News Cast was directed to compile all the news of the day on a daily basis and take it first to Choice FM? And THAT Choice FM uses for its daily newscast? The directive was that Choice news would be aired first before it is aired on the Nevis News Cast? And that no other news agency in the Federation gets it? Mr Powell in his rant and rave also spoke of a printing press. The same printing press that Mr Cozier enquired about? It is an open secret that Premier Parry, Minister Cozier and Cabinet Secretary Ashley Farrel own the Leeward Times. The staff of the Leeward Times has been bullying senior civil servants ” almost compelling them ” to send all of their printing to the Leeward Times. On some occasions staff members appear at government department stating Mr Cozier sent them. The 2007 budget session was postponed because the staff of the Leeward Times had problems producing the required documents. At a round table meeting with six or eight staff members all the technocrats suggested to the financial secretary that he ask Nevis Printing to do the printing of the budget documents. The reply was No, I do not want to upset the boys (the owners of the Leeward Times). So they send government printing to themselves, without any bidding or even getting a second quotation. Corruption to the highest degree. So let Mr Powell rant and rave. Nevis people are looking on and are commenting. For these kinds of things people go to jail anywhere else, but not in Nevis, Parry and Powell are the law. But Parry must remember that it was a Powell who brought down PAM and it will be a Powell who brings down NRP. Parry needs to listen. People are losing confidence in him.
