(Cayon Village, St. Kitts)”Less than two weeks after the brutal slaying of two men and the wounding of several others by two masked gunmen, who went on the rampage outside of a popular night spot in Cayon Village, another Cayon man was slain, bringing those murdered for the year to 23. Randy “Robby” Scott of Cunningham Village, Lower Cayon, was met lying face down in his yard with multiple wounds about his body on December 12, a police press release said. The district medical doctor visited the scene and pronounced Scott dead. The Police said that they responded to gunshots being heard at Cunningham Village, Lower Cayon, at about 6:00 a.m. on Dec. 12.” “When I heard those shots, I was frozen. They were so loud. There were about 5 shots,” one neighbor said. “I never heard gunshots like that. This was too close to home.” The people of Cayon have not yet recovered from the brazen attack near Henry’s Night Spot by two masked gunmen who emerged from a nearby yard and opened fire indiscriminately on several bystanders on November 30. The attack killed Travon Rickie Francis, alias “Waxy”, 25 and Desroy Walwyn, alias “Shootout”, 25, both of Sarah Bowry, Upper Cayon, while injuring several others. Twin brothers, Torday Burroughs, 20, and Torquel Burroughs, 20, and Akil Anthony, 19, of Cunningham Village, Lower Cayon, were formerly arrested and charged with two counts of murder in the deaths of Francis and Walwyn, a police press release dated December 8 said. They have since appeared in court and have been remanded to prison. In the meantime, a Sun St. Kitts/ Nevis article has said that Marjorie Burroughs, mother of the Burroughs twin, said that her sons are innocent of the crime. It is commonly believed by residents of Cayon Village that Scott’s murder is not related to the murders of Walwyn and Francis on November 30. Residents believe that Scott was murdered because he witnessed a shooting incident earlier in the year. He was supposed to give evidence in an impending case related to the shooting incident that he witnessed. Under condition of anonymity, one resident said that Scott had received threats to his life and it was only a matter of time before they killed him. The resident said that he was killed as he stepped out of his front door to go to work. He worked as a street cleaner. No suspect is in custody at this time but investigations are ongoing. The Police are appealing to persons with information on this crime to call the Cayon Police Station at telephone 465-7258, or the Criminal Investigation Department at 465-2241 ext. 220, 230, 236 or the crime hotline 707.
