APPELLATE ATTORNEY, NOT TRIAL ATTORNEY Dear Editor: I refer to your publication of Friday May 22, 2009. On page 10, second column of the said publication you caused an article to be printed under the rubric “Death Sentence overturned for Matthew and Bass.”In the last paragraph of that publication you said, and I quote, “On July 10, 2008, the jury handed down the unanimous verdict of guilty on both charges for the co-defendants. Attorney-at-law Chesley Hamilton defended Matthew while Dr. Henry Browne was the trial attorney for Bass.”In the interest of accuracy I hasten to state that I Dr. Henry Browne was not the trial attorney for Bass when he was found guilty. I was the appellate attorney for Bass. His appeal against this conviction for murder was overturned by the Court of Appeal on Wednesday May 20, 2009 when his death sentence was varied to life imprisonment. Presently I am engaged in prosecuting an appeal against that substitution before Her Majesty’s Privy Council. Please be good enough to rectify the error spoken to in paragraph one hereof. Thank you. Dr. Henry Browne
