(Charlestown, Nevis) – The Bank of Nevis has taken an interest in more than financial health.

On Feb. 26, the Bank of Nevis donated six Health – O – Meter Scales and six Examination Lamps to be distributed to the Health Centers around the island and three Dell Computers to the Public Health Department.

Accepting the gifts was the Minister of Health the Hon. Hensley Daniel.

“The importance of our local institutions with local support is also returning some of the profits to help throughout the community,” Mr. Daniel said. “The tentacles of the Bank of Nevis will be spread throughout the whole community. Every Health Center will be assisted.”

The equipment will be distributed to all six Health Centers across the island – at Combermere, Butlers, Gingerland, Brown Hill, Charlestown and Cotton Ground Community Health Centers .

Mrs. Genevieve Daniel, Community Health Nurse Supervisor, explained that the scales will be used for the infant welfare clinic to measure the growth and development of babies.  She said the examination lamps were to be used in post natal and family planning procedures and services.
