Reigning Soca champs Nu Vybes will defend their title against all comers both local and regional at the Soca Band Clash on December 15. As part of carnival celebrations, VIP Connected Entertainment will be hosting the second International Night of the Stars which will see a musical shootout  at Carnival Village.

The event, which was last held in 2005, is being called VIP Connected Bandorama and will feature Nu-Vybes, Ultrasonics of Nevis, Xtaushun from St Croix, and Burning Flames from Antigua.

This year’s winner will walk away with a cash prize of EC$13,000 and a first place trophy while the second place winner will receive EC$7,000 and a second place trophy. The bands will also be clashing for the Band of the Year title. The cost for the event is EC$45 in advance and there will be special prices for Nevisians traveling on the Caribe Queen ferry.

The event will also feature local acts and DJs. Local singers SMI out of Sandy Point and Kittitian Superstar Karina and semi-finalist Aylah are also expected to be a part of the show. There will also be side entertainment by local DJs including Sweet Sister Sensia, Evolution Sounds and DJ Yardy.

Julie “Lexy” Brooks, CEO of VIP Connected, told The Observer that this year the bands will be judged on their overall performance, creativity, crowd reaction and participation, choreography and best lead singer. Brooks also is encouraging supporters to show their appreciation for their favorite band as the judges will be taking a close look at crowd reaction.  In addition, the bands will also be given a song that they must play in any genre. Brooks also revealed that a judge from Trinidad would be flown in to ensure that the competition is judged fairly
