(Charlestown, Nevis) ” The latest murder on Nevis has resulted in charges being brought against one man. Gavon Daniel, 25, of Cotton Ground was charged with the slaying of Llewellen “Mike” Martin, 54, also of Cotton Ground. Police have released no information on the possible motive behind the slaying. Mr. Martin was found lying in a pool of blood at his Cotton Ground home Sunday, Nov. 23. A post mortem examination of the body revealed he died as a result of trauma and shock due to multiple stab wounds to his body and neck. Mr. Martin worked for Mansa Tyson’s farm and vegetable market in Cades Bay for nearly four years. There have been 22 murders during 2008 in the Federation. Five have been committed on Nevis. On Oct. 30,” Alejandro Nisbette, 58, originally of the Dominican Republic and living on Nevis, was killed with a machete. His body was found near the Nevis airport. His nephew, Sandy Nisbette, has been charged with the murder. A masked assailant fired at him and escaped on foot. On June 11, police found the body of Leon Hendrickson on Marion Street in Charlestown. Mr. Hendrickson, 29, of St. Kitts, resided at Stoney Grove. He was walking home when he was shot. Police believe the murder was gang related. Leon “Gravo” Westerman, 28, of Charlestown, died of multiple gunshot wounds late on the night of Jan. 28.” He was attacked at an establishment in downtown Charlestown.
