The Barbados Ministry of Health and Wellness and the Embassy of China have signed a new memorandum of understanding for the arrival of the eighth Chinese Medical Team at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) in Barbados.

The agreement was signed by Wayne Webster, Acting Permanent Secretary at the Ministry, and Lei Hao, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy.

Henderson Pinder, Acting Chief Operations Officer at the QEH, said the exchange program, which began in 2016, continues to bring great benefits to Barbados. He highlighted that the partnership allows for the sharing of technical knowledge, clinical skills, and professional training.

Pinder praised the seventh medical team for their dedication and strong work ethic, noting that their contribution set a high standard. He welcomed the new team, saying they would strengthen specialized training, research, and clinical work. He also expressed hope for future nurse exchanges.

Lei Hao said the medical teams have become a symbol of friendship between Barbados and China. He added that the new delegation, made up of eight doctors, will provide care while also training local professionals in areas such as diagnostics, treatment, and healthcare management.
