(St. James, Nevis) ” There were a few clouds in the sky over the Eden Brown Church of God on the afternoon of Nov. 12, but few people seemed to notice. Soon-to-be graduates, educators, families, friends and well-wishers were out in force to commemorate the Charlestown Secondary School Graduation and Prize Giving Ceremony. Pointing at a burgundy-robed sixth-former, a proud mother said, “That is my son.” Everyone, is seemed, was filled with pride in the accomplishment of the graduates. Graduate Elbert Bergan, like many of his classmates, seemed to be far calmer than many of the guests. “I”m all right,” he said. Mr. Bergan explained what he”ll miss about school. “Teachers and friends,” he said. “Mostly friends.” The theme of this year’s ceremony was “Navigating the Shores of Success With the Compass of Industry.” The ceremony began just after 4 p.m., as the 180-odd students walked into the church in two lines. The building was filled to capacity and volunteers were busy carrying in extra chairs as the event got underway. Many awards, gifts and honors were presented. Among those recognized were Agiel Browne, as States” Scholar and Best CAPE; Joanne Fleming, for Best CSEC; and Kazel Williams, for Best CCSLC.
