Starting next week, Independence Square will come alive with Music Festival lunchtime concerts.

The daily concerts are set to begin 11 a.m. Tuesday with Sweet Sister Sensia hosting on that day.

The lunchtime concerts are to feature performances by artistes such as Aturo Tappin, Impak Band and the Silver Star Orchestra.

Local bands will also entertain onlookers as the legendary Grand Masters is scheduled to perform Wednesday afternoon.

Grand Masters will also provide musical accompaniment for local calypsonians like Princess P, Turkey Killa, Syah, and the reigning Junior Calypso King.

Sister Sensia will also host Friday’s concert, while Sean Seabrookes will host on Monday and the ever-popular St. Clair ‘Cheeko’ Guishard will host on Thursday.

Also performing during the concerts will be the Cayon High School Steel Orchestra, Gairy Knight, Modern Image, Kollision Band, Modern Image and Boots Steel Orchestra. Patrons of the concerts will be able to buy food and Music Festival merchandise while enjoying themselves.

The Music Festival Committee has organised other activities to keep visitors and locals in the festive spirit during Music Festival. With events such as the Celebrity SlamDunk Competition, Kids Zone, Business day, Beach Bash and boat rides.

Those looking for entertainment after the nightly concerts can expect local clubs and night spots like BET Soundstage, Club NV and Bambu’s to provide entertainment options.

With the four-day extravaganza just days away, the Music Festival Committee is urging persons to purchase tickets early and to adhere to the rules and regulations of the event.
