National football champions, Digicel Village Supersta rs, received gift bags from their corporate sponsor, Digicel, last week during a brief appreciation ceremony.

Market Manager, Kevin Edwards, handed over the Digicel carry bags to each player on the team, including Zicomo Condor, who attended on crutches after being injured during the playoffs.

Each bag contained a football and jersey top.

Much to the teams’ delight, each player also received a $15 Digiflex phone card in their bag.

Man of the match for the championship game, Glen ‘Pepper’ Nisbett received a Motorola Razr cell phone in addition to the other items.

Edwards commended the team on their victory and urged them to continue to strive for excellence.

The ceremony that took place last Friday, launched Digicel’s new campaign where customers can select one of the three football promotional items with the purchase of a cell phone. The campaign is set to run for the entire month of July.

Team Manager, Franklin Maitland, also made a gesture of thanks by presenting Edwards with a team jersey and football, both of which had been signed by the entire team. Edwards put the football into the display case at the Digicel store where it sits next to the championship trophy that Village Superstars won on June 17.

Maitland expressed gratitude on the teams’ behalf, thanking Digicel for their immense support through sponsorship.

Digicel further extended the VIP treatment of the players by giving them all a night’s pass to attend the Music Festival and sit in the company’s corporate box . The players attended Friday night’s event and lavished in the VIP treatment deserving of national champions.

On Saturday the Superstars also went on an island-wide motorcade, making stops in Sandy Point, St. Paul’s, Cayon and Newtown.

Digicel also donated passes to each Superstar to attend the 2nd day of last month’s test match between West Indies and India. They also sponsored a group of 100 children from different primary schools across the island to attend the 2nd day of the test match. This sponsorship included tickets, transportation, meals, and cricket memorabilia for all the children.
