The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in Saint Christopher and Nevis has alerted authorities and the public in Antigua and Barbuda about outstanding criminal proceedings involving Keran Wynter, who is reportedly residing there under the name Keran Millard, according to a report by Antigua Newsroom.

Wynter was indicted before the High Court of Saint Christopher and Nevis on a charge of larceny by servant arising from the alleged misappropriation of funds belonging to Timothy Beach Resort, where she worked as an accounts clerk.

The indictment alleges that Wynter stole approximately EC$24,074.12 from her employer between February 21 and March 24, 2022.

According to the report, Wynter was granted $50,000 bail while the proceedings remained pending. The DPP’s position is that she subsequently left Saint Christopher and Nevis for Antigua and Barbuda and is believed to be residing there.

Her mother and sister, who stood as sureties, are now before the court as the DPP seeks to recover the $50,000 bail sum following Wynter’s failure to appear for trial.

Antigua Newsroom also reported that Wynter has since changed her name and is reportedly using the name Keran Millard.

The DPP has warned that anyone who knowingly assists Wynter in evading lawful apprehension could face criminal investigation and prosecution. Depending on the circumstances and available evidence, such conduct could include being an accessory after the fact or attempting to pervert the course of justice.

The DPP reportedly stressed that criminal liability would depend on proof of the relevant elements, including the required knowledge and intention.

Wynter has been called upon to present herself voluntarily to the appropriate law-enforcement authorities in Antigua and Barbuda and cooperate with arrangements for her return to Saint Christopher and Nevis. According to the report, she would have the opportunity to defend herself before an independent and impartial court and receive the full protection of the law.

Anyone in Antigua and Barbuda with information concerning Wynter’s whereabouts is being asked to contact the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda or the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions in Saint Christopher and Nevis. Members of the public have been urged not to confront or attempt to apprehend her themselves.

The report said the DPP remains committed to working with authorities in Antigua and Barbuda to ensure the outstanding proceedings are determined in accordance with the law. Wynter remains presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
