Federation Citizenry Celebrate Silver Jubilee in England

From Observer Staff Reports Nevisian-born Major Ashley Rawlins TD DL represented Her Majesty The Queen at St Kitts-Nevis” 25th Anniversary of Independence Thanksgiving Service in England. The St Kitts-Nevis High Commissioner to the UK – His Excellency Dr James Williams – requested that a National Thanksgiving Service and Reception be held, in England, to celebrate the Silver Jubilee Anniversary of St Kitts-Nevis Independence and the St Kitts-Nevis Association (Leeds) volunteered to host that event with the theme for the day “A Nation Bound Together”. The procession of dignitaries was led by Major Ashley Rawlins TD DL ” Deputy Lord-Lieutenant for the County of West Yorkshire and included; The Lord Mayor of Leeds, The High Commissioner and Mrs Williams, The Deputy High Commissioner, a Leeds MP, three Leeds Councillors and Clergymen from several religions. The Thanksgiving Service was held at the St. Martins Church in Leeds, followed by a reception at Space at Hillcrest, Cowper Street, Leeds. Other organizations that contributed to the day of thanksgiving and cultural activities were; members of St Kitts-Nevis Associations from; Manchester, Leicester, Birmingham, Bedford and London. A short message from The Prime Minister of St Kitts-Nevis was delivered by His Excellency the High Commissioner for St Kitts-Nevis and the programme carried a short message from the Premier of Nevis.
