(Charlestown, Nevis) – Helen Kidd, President of Kidd & Associates and former CEO of the Nevis Tourism Authority, was recently honoured as one of the “Top 25 Extraordinary Minds in Sales and Marketing” for 2007 by the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International.
Ms. Kidd was honoured on stage at the HSMAI Adrian Awards gala on Monday, Jan. 28 at the Marriott Marquis in New York City. The Adrian Awards are presented each year by the HSMAI, an international organization of sales and marketing professionals representing all segments of hospitality, travel, and tourism.
“To be selected as one of the HSMAI’s ‘Top 25’ is an honour bestowed upon true ‘movers and shakers’ in the hospitality industry and pays tribute to these outstanding individuals who define innovation, vision and achievement,” according to a statement from the organization.
“It is a dream-of-a-lifetime to be recognized by such a well-known and respected organization as HSMAI. To have my work acknowledged by travel industry professionals worldwide is just an exceptional honour which I very humbly accept with extreme gratitude,” Ms. Kidd said upon receiving her award.
Ms. Kidd, who holds dual British and Canadian nationality, has an impressive resume in the hotel and hospitality industry on Nevis as well as in St. Kitts, Canada and her native Scotland. She has earned the reputation as a self-starter, specializing in development and implementation of programs to attract tourism revenue. Her communication skills have proven effective in motivating people to improve their understanding of the importance of tourism to the economy, quality customer care, attitude and motivation, sales and marketing skills, and effective team-building strategies.
After almost seven years as CEO of the Nevis Tourism Authority, Ms. Kidd recently launched a hospitality consulting firm, Kidd & Associates. While she will continue to work short term with the NTA as an advisor, this latest accolade should lead to an increasingly large portfolio of business clients throughout the Caribbean.
