Grandson charged in death of his 82-year-old grandmother

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – On June 7, Michael Nicholas, 28, of Ponds Estate was formally arrested and charged on a warrant, in the first instance, for the offence of murder. He was charged for causing the June 3 death of his 82-year-old grandmother, Bernice Iona Nicholas, at their home in Ponds Estate.

An autopsy earlier concluded that she died as a result of mechanical asphyxia due to obstruction of the airway.
