(Tabernacle Village, St. Kitts)”Member of Parliament, Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris ,is celebrating 15 years as the elected representative of Constituency #7, with a week of activities from November 15-22. A thanksgiving service at the New Testament Church of God in Tabernacle Village on November 16 officially opened the week. Among those in attendance were His Excellency Sir Cuthbert Montraville Sebastian, Deputy Prime Minister Sam Condor, other government officials, members of the Diplomatic and Consular Corps, constituents, family, and invited guests, who made up a packed church of about 250 persons with some accommodation under tents pitched alongside the Church. Dr. Harris in his remarks said that Tabernacle Village was his “borning land” and that he grew up two houses away from the host Church. He said that he felt at home in each of the villages of his constituency. “I will do my very best and let God do the rest,” he said. “I cannot fulfill every request that is made of me but I will try my very best.” “I am human with all the failings that come with that,” Dr. Harris said. He understands the frustration of the people with respect to the power outages and the pain of families who lose their loved ones to violence, he said. The government is trying its best to make sure that the country progresses, he said. “We must pray for the leadership of the country,” he said. He thanked family, friends, party stalwarts and well-wishers for their advice and support over the 15 years. “It’s been a real joy being Parliamentary Representative of the people of Constituency #7,” he said. Pastor Edward Phipps in his sermon spoke about the power of sacrifice. “To make a sacrifice to God requires obedience,” he said. He beckoned those gathered to be people of faith and sacrifice like Abraham, who was willing to offer up his own son, Isaac, as a sacrifice to God in obedience of what God had asked of him. The service was punctuated with songs, poem, and words of admiration for Dr. Harris” service to his constituency. Karina Phillip, Foreign Service Officer and contestant in the upcoming National Queen Pageant, rendered beautifully the song, “You Raise Me Up”; the Constituency #7 Branch sang “Thank you Lord for your Blessings on Me”; Shirley Williams and Daughter rendered a duet, “Lord I am Available to You,”; a poem was rendered by Celeste Byron entitled “Momentos” in which some of the achievements of Dr. Harris over the years were highlighted; Dr. Dale Crawford read the scripture reading which was taken from Psalm 96.
