Herbert hit with murder charge

Thirty-two-year-old Jamari Herbert of John Street, Newtown/Upper Monkey Hill, St. Peter’s, St. Kitts, has been arrested and charged with the murder of thirty-eight-year-old Elston Estridge of Conaree Village, St. Kitts. The tragic incident took place on April 18th, 2024, between 1:30 PM and 2 PM, sending shockwaves through the community.

Mr. Herbert was formally charged last week on April 23rd in connection with Mr. Estridge’s death, marking a significant turn in the ongoing investigation. The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) has been diligently probing the circumstances surrounding the shooting, which occurred on John Street in Newtown.

According to reports from the scene, responding officers discovered Mr. Estridge lying on the ground with gunshot wounds. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced deceased at the scene. Preliminary investigations indicate that Mr. Estridge was confronted by an armed assailant who fled the area shortly after the incident.
