Isaac moving west at 14 mph

St. Kitts and Nevis are on the northern edge of Tropical Storm Isaac’s cone with heavy rain and winds gusts expected to increase as it approaches the Lesser Antilles on Thursday.

At 5 a.m., Isaac had maximum sustained winds at 70 mph and was moving west at 14 mph.

On Monday, Isaac weakened to a tropical storm. During the next two days, before it approaches the Lesser Antilles Isaac could gain in strength to a Category 1 hurricane.

NOAA expects Isaac to be at or near hurricane intensity when it approaches the Lesser Antilles on Thursday. However, weather forecasters indicate their confidence in the forecast is lower than normal.
