Kactuc Entertainment Ltd. Remains Resilient Despite Many Challenges

” (Basseterre, St. Kitts) – Like the cactus plant that can brave harsh weather and survive in the desert with little rainfall, Kactus Entertainment Ltd, two years of its founding on Nov. 1, 2006, is resilient like the cactus plant, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the company, Romeo Parris has said. “Over the two years it has been difficult, we”ve spent several hundreds of thousands of dollars to develop the company. We recognized that every moment of the way we had to improve what’s there. We have had some big shows, some of which were big losses,” Mr. Parris said. “My intention is to structure the industry by getting everyone involved to develop it so that the whole country and even the government from a tourism and cultural point of view can benefit,” Mr. Parris said. Kactus Entertainment Ltd includes Club Kactus, Kactus Promotions, Kactus Modeling Agency, Kactus Entertainment Website, Kactus Records, The Lighthouse Restaurant, The Entertainer’s Lounge and The Fish Trap Barbecue and Grill. The modeling agency will be launched before the end of the year and the entertainment Web site is being constructed presently and should be ready in a week or two.” Last year, the Club celebrated its first anniversary with the “Soca Mi Crazy I” show at Club Kactus, which featured Peter Ram and Diggie Irie out of Barbados. This year, the venue celebrates its second anniversary with “Soca Mi Crazy II” at Club Kactus on Nov. 1. There will be a host of DJ’s including TNO Sounds, DJ Wetdutt and DJ Cool. Grand Masters Band, Nu Vybes, Collision and High Heights will be in performance. Performing Calypsonians will include Slim “Big” Edwards, Ian “Patches” Liburd, King Inspirer, King Meeko, King Socrates, Queen Anastasia, Pungwa, Ayatollah and Unexpected.” The Calypso segment of the show will be hosted by Calypso Reggie. The Stroka Band of St. Croix is also expected to perform at the show. Parris said that the show is designed to reach out to both an older and younger audience. College students with photo ID will pay half price at the gate. Proper security will be at the show, Mr. Parris promised. Kactus Entertainment is managed by a team that includes Founder and CEO, Romeo Parris; Marketing and Brand Development Manager, Noah Mills; Promotion, Press and Stage Manager, Marlene Phillips-Lee; and Chef Patrick Browne who heads the Lighthouse Restaurant. “”At Kactus Entertainment, our hope is not to compete but to compliment all the efforts that other persons are making because we respect them and realize that they have a part to play,” Mr. Parris said. “Our dream is to be the Mecca of entertainment in the Caribbean but at times it has been very disappointing,” Mr. Parris said.
